Watford pensioners invited to have their say on the social care system

Watford Borough Council is inviting people from across the town to take part in its third Pensioners Forum which this time focuses on the UK's social care system.

The event is being hosted by the council in partnership with the Watford & Three Rivers Trust and for the first time, Independent Age UK, the 150 year old charity that provides impartial advice to older people on issues like care and support, health and mobility. It takes place on Monday 11 November, from 2 to 4pm at Watford Colosseum.

Deputy Mayor Cllr Karen Collett will be chairing the event, and will invite residents to talk about their experience of social care, what they would like to see changed and improved and what it means to them. Guest speakers from Independent Age will also participate in the session.

As the forum falls on Remembrance Day, there will be time for reflection to honour those who fought in the First World War.

Deputy Mayor Cllr Karen Collett said: “I’m really pleased that we’re able to host another Forum this year. We are working hard to make Watford a town for everyone so I’m really pleased to offer our older residents this opportunity. The first two events were really successful so please do come along and share your thoughts on the social care system. We look forward to seeing you there.”

The Pensioners’ Forum is free to attend and it is a great way for residents in Watford to meet, new people and chat over tea and cake.
