Employers encouraged to reward staff and keep money local with the Watford Gift Card

Watford BID is encouraging employers in the area to consider rewarding staff with the Watford Gift Card for Christmas this year, keeping money local and supporting local economic recovery.

A survey published in HR Review found that less than one fifth of UK companies are still planning an office Christmas party for 2020. Ongoing restrictions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic mean that many employers are looking
for new ways to reward their staff.

The Watford Gift Card can be redeemed with over 30 businesses in Watford town centre, available for employers to buy from £5-£500. Recipients of the Gift Card can use the card like local currency, in one transaction or many, and on retail, hospitality, services and leisure.

Each Watford Gift Card is a prepaid Mastercard which is valid for 12 months from purchase, offering employers a secure way to gift. Cards can be purchased online and delivered straight to the recipient. Employers are able to make bulk orders of the gift card directly by contacting Watford BID.

Maria Manion of Watford BID said that the Watford Gift Card is a socially conscious choice for employers wanting to support Watford whilst giving their staff a reward they will appreciate:

“There are approximately 200,000 adults living in a Watford postcode. If each adult in this region buys, or is gifted, a £10 Watford Gift Card, that is over £2million we are locking into Watford, which would have a huge impact on disposable income and employment. During these very uncertain times, supporting our local community & economy has to be a priority for all of us, particularly employers.”

Employers in the area who reward staff with these Town and City Gift Cards can take advantage of the UK trivial benefits scheme. A business can give an employee a benefit of up to £50 without paying tax, but only if the benefit isn’t in cash.

Visit www.watfordgiftcard.com to find out all the information on the Watford Gift Card, where in Watford accepts the Gift Card, and how to make a purchase.

For bulk orders, please email through to enquiries@watfordbid.co.uk to express your interest, or simply state the number of cards you wish to purchase, the amount to load on each card, and where to deliver the cards to.
