Christmas comes to Watford with spectacular switch-on!

On Sunday, 17 November, thousands of people came into Watford to see the most spectacular lights display ever seen in the town. With the help of Radio 1 DJ Chris Stark and Watford Football Club footballers Lloyd Doyle, Tommy Smith and Richard Lee, the town lit up in magnificent display of lights, and a firework display curtesy of intu Watford. The lights provided and managed by Watford BID with support from Watford Borough Council, created a beautiful scene in the town, lights lit up the bridge, giant baubles adorn The Parade, and people can capture ‘Watford’ in lights at the top of The Parade.

Responses to the event on social media have been amazing and Sunday night saw possibly the largest crowd ever seen in the town centre. The lights provide the perfect backdrop for visitors to the town, and for people wanting to make the most of Winter in Watford, a few treats awaiting people include shows at the Colosseum, the traditional panto at Watford Palace Theatre, Santa’s grotto in intu Watford, plus lots of opportunities to enjoy the town’s great, leisure, retail and dining offers.
